The poems in this collection stretch the boundaries normally constraining a Black female body, providing an alternate psychic space of community and empowerment. ![]() ![]() She graduated from the Ohio State University’s MFA in Creative Writing Program in 2001.You Don't Have to Go to Mars for Love follows an unnamed protagonist on her multidimensional, afro-futuristic journey. Yona has also worked with teenagers writing about mental health issues in collaboration with Creative Nonfiction magazine, and she is a 2022 Guggenheim Fellow. She co-wrote Marvel’s World of Wakanda with Roxane Gay, as well as Black Panther & the Crew with Ta-Nehisi Coates.
